Some people in my community run a sledding business (basically you pay $30 and we take you sledding in a big circle through the woods). I have had the honor of the occasional shifts just as the occasional helping hand. I was looking for a dog and told them. One of their dogs recently had puppies and they've offered me one. 1/2 Canadian Eskimo Dog, 1/4 Siberian Husky, and 1/4 Alaskan Malamute. I have a lot of experience with dogs but everyone here always talks about how this dog is rare, special, and difficult. I think in an "I trust you" way but it's made me paranoid. I am trying to do a deep dive to prepare myself and be as perfect as possible. There is not a lot of detailed advice on how to raise something so "special" and what I do find is conflicting information surrounding care and training. Has anyone had a mix like this? My co-workers call them "Qimmiq" but my research even seems confused on what to call them or if my dog would be a "nonstandard qimmiq" or just a mutt. Others just say Inuit Husky. It's kind of sending me in a web of directions that don't lead as many places as I'd like.
If anyone here has gotten to raise a breed like this, or a mutt like this, or something similar… I'm all ears. I'm overthinking and desire any knowledge you've found to help me make the happiest and healthiest dog. And what behaviors do I need to be on top of immediately besides making sure they have a job?
Also, I apologize for the slur, that's the name of the dog I am being given and idk if people would recognize all the other names.
