I’m only on week 2 with my now 11 week old pup. First week was really a dream, he got settled quickly and comfortably in pen/crate, was potty trained practically from day 1 but wow the last 3 days have been brutal.
Our first vet visit found he had worms so we were prescribed panacur along with some other meds. I don’t know how much is the medicine vs discomfort from the worms but he’s been such a devil. Day 1 it was like he was on crack just hyperactive all day, chewing, could not settle for a second. He’s was also so anxious just terrified of being outside in the city noise so there’s even limited activity to do. The second he’s away from my side in his pen or crate he’s incessantly whining and clawing and chewing at the bars which he never did, even if I’m in the same room or right outside of the pen/crate.
He’s also peeing so frequently now every 45 mins to an hour which I do think is a side effect from the medicine, but this is majorly disrupting his sleep which is compounding the issues and also causing him to have accidents inside because I can’t tell the potty whines from the general whines.
I’m now on day 3/5 of the medicine I thought I was over the hump because he was so good this morning but by afternoon it was more of the same.
Have never felt so tired, frustrated, and honestly crazy after so many hours of whining in my life. I really hope it’s this and not a major regression because I’m counting down the mins for day 6….
