Crate training 1.5 yr old hound while I work

I am adopting the dog this weekend. I have a hybrid work schedule, 2 days at home per week. I got permission to WFH entirely the first week then half days in office the second week. Then third week back to normal schedule. I am reading about keeping the dog on lockdown the first couple weeks and having a consistent schedule but I’m not really able to keep it consistent because I’m trying to gently introduce longer crate periods than he had at foster house (is already crate trained for meals and sleep). Anyone have any tips/insight on how to keep this as low stress as possible for dog? He can be in my room while I’m working but I’m worried it will confuse him with the hybrid schedule. And yes, I am in the process of connecting with a trainer but want to get him settled first.
