Hello everyone. I just got a 4 month old Chihuahua (probably right at or almost 5 months now) from the shelter a few weeks ago. He’s super sweet (very hyper but super sweet) but he’s having some issues with potty training stuff. He’s gotten used to going outside and knows that outside is where he needs to go to the bathroom but if we don’t keep on top of taking him out every 30-45 minutes he pees in the house. I’ve read many different things and I’m kind of worried because I’ve read that it’s not normal and he could have a UTI and also that it is normal because he’s a puppy and he has a small bladder. If it’s any correlation he also poops a lot (like 5-8) times a day. He usually pees 2 or 3 times throughout the night so he can hold it for a little bit but if he’s roaming around the house even if we have just taken him out he goes and pees somewhere. I do also want to add that when he pees outside sometimes he pees more than once in a short amount of time. It’s almost like he doesn’t get it all out and then a few minutes later he goes again. This also makes it very hard to figure out when it’s actually time to go inside because if he pees once and I praise him and then he pees again right after we go inside I just don’t know how to deal with it. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. he hasn’t been neutered yet. I don’t know if that makes a difference.
