Quadriplegic in need of help potty training new puppy

I have a three month old Bernedoodle that I've had for about a month and my family is having difficulties potty training him. So to start off, he's my dog but since I'm a quadriplegic my family/caregivers do all of the care and training for him. I have a two year-old labrador retriever that picked up potty training really easily, after about a week of giving him treats when he went to the bathroom outside and showing of how to use the doggie door, he was taking himself out to the bathroom with hardly any accidents inside the house by the time he was four months old. However my new puppy isn't picking it up as easily. He doesn't seem to know the difference between going to the bathroom in the backyard vs in the house no matter how much positive reinforcement he gets when he goes to the bathroom outside. Here are the main problems/Questions we have:

  1. How important is it that we go outside with him and give him treats every
  • *
  1. time he goes out to the bathroom? Because while he is

    taken

  2. out to the bathroom every couple of hours, sometimes the person who takes him out

    is

  3. busy and unable to watch him and give him a treat after he

    goes to the bathroom.

  4. He is being watched to make sure he goes to the bathroom, just from inside the house while the person is doing something. Do we need to go out and give him a treat every time he goes out?

  5. How do I train him to only go to the bathroom outside? He knows how to use the doggie door and even when he has access to it, he will still pee in the house right where he is standing. I grew up with people telling me to rub the dogs nose in their pee when they pee in inside the house but I guess that's no longer the correct way to do it? If so, how do I get him to stop peeing in the house and only pee in the backyard? How do I get him to tell us somehow if he needs to go out to the bathroom, like if he's in his crate, for example? Also, how do I get him to go to the bathroom on the grass? Because right now he will poop and pee on the concrete if he is standing there.

How important is it that he goes out to the bathroom in the middle of the night? He currently sleeps through most of the night, he might get up once or twice to pee (his current set up is a play pen with the open end connected to the open end of his crate so he can sleep in the crate and the play pen is lined with pee pads in case nobody is available to take him out) otherwise he won't get up until sometime between 530 and 6:30 in the morning and that is when he poops and pees for the morning. Is that OK for right now? I don't really have anyone to take him out that early in the morning, but I could find someone if need be.

Last and unrelated, but how can I bond with him? I can't play with him or give him treats so right now he is more attached to my family members who do play with him and give him treats, he is just indifferent towards me. Ideally, I would want him to be potty trained so he can be in my room freely and want to be in there without having to lock him in with me. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can bond with him?
