Does it get better? Our sweet little chihuahua mix is almost 6 months old. We have had her for a little over a month and adore her… but her separation anxiety is slowly chipping away at my soul. She is genuinely such a great puppy, she doesn’t bite, is great with kids, and knows basic commands like sit, lay, heel, and place (being her crate), and two weeks ago we got her to start sleeping through the night in her crate. The problem is that unless it is her nap time( we do enforced naps) or bed time she hates being in the crate. We have tried making it a good thing. Feeding her in there, giving her lick mats, dental sticks, her favorite treats, but without fail as soon as we close the crate and start walking around or leave the room even for a minute she starts barking, chewing on her bed, destroying her lick mat and really destroying anything she can get her mouth on. I honestly don’t know what to do. I’m sure there is something that we could be doing better, I just don’t know what it is. We want to do right by her, and also not want to jump out the window from how annoying her barking is. We also live in an apartment so letting her bark it out really isn’t an option either. Please help.
