My dog is perfect until anyone comes over and I don’t know what to do

I really need help because I feel like I’m doing everything right except for this one situation.

I live alone in an apartment with my one year old doodle. He has a really solid routine. I take him on a couple walks a day and I also have a dog walker come midday to hang out with him, burn energy, feed him, and give him puzzles and other mental stimulation.

Even with all that, the second someone comes over it is like a switch flips.

He gets extremely excited and will not calm down. He constantly tries to get people to interact with him by pawing, jumping, bringing toys, and barking. Even when my boyfriend and I are laying on the couch trying to relax, he will not settle or take the hint.

I have the biggest issue when friends or my boyfriend come over. He will NOT chill.

I have tried positive reinforcement by giving treats when he lays down or shows calm behavior, but sometimes he just starts barking at me instead. I have also tried redirecting with toys and puzzles and ignoring the behavior.

I tried putting him in his kennel, but he will whine nonstop for hours and I live in an apartment so that is not an option.

I am starting to feel anxious having people over because it turns into chaos and I feel like I have to manage him the entire time.

Has anyone dealt with this or know what might be going on? Is this overstimulation or just lack of impulse control? I would really appreciate any advice because I feel like I am missing something.
