Info on adopting a dachshund

I’m interested in adoption a dachshund as I have for some time. I’ve done some research and while I feel I could properly support a dachshund and train it, I fear that is just the want in me. Not so much the training or patience involved, just the time investment.

I work in the service industry with long days several days a week and I know, especially during early life, dachshunds need attention and care. My fear is that my job will make this difficult. I do have roommates whom I’m sure will help when helps needed and are in support as one owns a dog themself a wished to have a dog theirs could socialize with but my growing concern is on if I will have time or not.

My other concern is that my dog may have regressive tendencies in training due to inconsistent procedure. My roommate has trained their dog well and while it is a sweetheart, they are a different breed. And also, while I’m sure I could easily instruct them on how I would like my dog treated, I am unsure how that would play out.

I plan to take my dog everywhere. I’m not much of a go out to do stuff person and outside hangouts are few and far between but I still fear the grind between my work and my dog. Not that I am looking for someone to tell me I’m doing everything exactly right or exactly wrong, just looking for guidance as I don’t plan to go out and find a dachshund tomorrow, I just have extreme interest in the idea. Thank you.
