Dog is CRYING when she plays with her squeaky toy

I don't mean she's whining, I mean she is literally CRYING. Like this is the type of cry that she does when she can't find me and thinks I left without saying goodbye to her. Her tail wags a little when playing with it but idk if that's a stress thing or what, but she'll sit there and chew on it and if she can't get it to squeak she starts crying. When it does squeak, her ears perk up and she acts all excited. She's never done this with ANY of her toys before and she's had plenty of squeaky toys in the past. It's just a light blue rubber bone I got her as a treat bc she hadn't had any new toys in a while. If I try to take it from her, she panics and starts crying for it until I give it back. I even tried sneaking it away from her when she couldn't see me do it, and the second she realized it was gone, she started digging through all the bedding in her kennel and desperately looking for it. This doesn't seem normal for her at all. She's been spayed and has never had puppies, I don't think it would be a maternal thing but idk atp?

I'm just so conflicted. On one hand, it's kind of worrying me because she's never ever done this before in her almost 8 years of life. But on the other, she gets so freaked out when she can't find it. And just to clarify she's got lots of toys so it's not like she's protecting her only toy or smth. Idk im just at a loss. Do I take it away? Let her have it? What do I do?
