Staffordshire Terrier extreme anxiety? Panting for hours after strangers visit

Hi everyone, I need some advice about my dog.

I have a Staffordshire Terrier who gets extremely anxious whenever unfamiliar people come into the house. Today, someone visited, and since then he has been panting heavily for about 5 hours straight. He’s also hiding under furniture and constantly licking one of his paws.

This behavior isn’t completely new — he’s always been very anxious around strangers — but I’m concerned because of how long it’s lasting this time.

I’ve already taken him to multiple veterinarians, and they’ve checked him but haven’t found any clear medical issue or given me a concrete explanation.

He hasn’t exercised, the temperature is normal, and he has access to water.

My questions:

– Is this level of prolonged panting normal for anxiety in this breed?

– Could the paw licking mean something else (like pain or injury)?

– At what point should I take him to the vet again?

– Should I be focusing more on behavioral training or anxiety treatment instead?

Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you.
