Some of you may have seen the other thread detailing our Amstaff's (8 years old, 32kg) rise to becoming a 5 star food critic. Many of you gave us the advice of offering kibble, leaving it for 10 minutes and taking it away if it's not eaten, which we've been doing.
His last meal was on the evening of the 14th. Today, on the morning of the 17th, he once again refused his kibble. Tonight will mark the 72 hour mark, our vet has informed us that we should not be allowing him to go without food for over 72 hours.
We're a tad demotivated, we assumed he would've cracked by now but alas. He's still very chipper, no real lethargy, is very excited to go on walks (we walk him twice a day, 45 mins each time). The vet said that we ought to come in on Monday to see if it might be nausea related which we'll be doing. In the meantime we've been instructed to offer him his kibble a last time tonight, and if he still refuses, to add some chicken broth to his food to ensure he eats a meal.
For those who have tried this and perhaps faced a similar timeline, how do we proceed? Do we just reset the clock after his meal tonight, and try again? Or should we look into alternative means? We haven't given him any treats, scraps, nothing. He's been drinking his water fine, he just seems to be on his Gandhi grind and we're a tad worried.
His bowls are clean, metal, and shouldn't be the cause of the problem. The kibble is freshly bought and not spoiled.
