8 week Puppy potty training advice 😭

I have an 8 week old puppy and we’re currently working on potty training.

Our routine is

•potty break •playtime (about 20 minutes, sometimes longer) if longer than 20 we bring her to potty between playtime •then crate for naps 

She actually does really well in the crate and almost never has accidents there.

The problem is:

If we play freely in the playroom for more than ~20 minutes, she almost always pees inside. (Even if we bring her potty every 15mins when we play together)

I’m taking her out:

– before and after meals (about 15 minutes later)

– after waking up

– before nap

So I feel like I’m doing the right things, but she still has accidents during play.

Is this just because she’s too young and gets overexcited?

Should I be shortening play sessions or taking her out more frequently during playtime?

Would really appreciate any advice please 😭😭
