So my 2 puppies (1yo & 8mo) are fully potty trained, crate trained, and sleep through the night. During the day they max out at about 4 hours between needing to go out to potty. Luckily I have housemates that are generous enough to take them out once a day while I’m at work(7hrs). I’m moving into my own place soon, where I won’t have anyone to ask to take them out while I’m at work, so I want to know if anyone has tips on extending the time between potty breaks. Once I’m home from work they spend all of their time out of their kennels, and can typically go 2-3hrs between. Should I just gradually extend the time between? What if they have an accident? Should I backtrack, or keep the time extension until they have no more accidents then add more time?
I would also like to add that they are small breed dogs, so of course they have small bladders, so if any small breed owners could weigh in that would be very helpful.
