We've had our puppy for going on 3 months now.
Almost every night without fail, our puppy will wake up and let us know she needs out of her crate to go outside to pee or poop. She doesn't cry or bark unless it's urgent but she'll paw at her kennel and maybe whimper to let us know she needs to go. She always falls asleep immediately afterwards but I'm worried that she should be able to hold it overnight by now. Occasionally this happens twice a night even. It typically happens between 3AM and 4AM.
The only times she doesn't do this is if she has had an extremely social day and she stayed up longer before bed than normal – think Friday or Saturday after having a long day out on the town and going to different places. Her nap schedule isn't perfect on the weekends but she gets at least 15+ of rest on those days (much less than on weekdays)
I'm not sure if it's because we're giving her a nap before bed or what. Her sleep and nap schedule is very regimented typically 1 to 1.5 hours up 2 to 2.5 hours down daily. The last nap she has before bed starts at 6:30ish and goes until 8:30pm or 9:00pm. We keep her up until we're ready to go to sleep and make sure to get a good amount of exercise and engagement before bed. I'm wondering if we should disrupt her sleep and wake her up earlier around 8 so she can wear herself completely before bed and get all the pee out.
