My dog generally doesn’t leave my side when outside but doesn’t respond to my calls when she sees something exciting like a squirrel for example

hi all. when my dog and I go to an off leash park she would go say hi to other dogs / sniff around but ALWAYS comes back to me. if we are walking, she would always walk behind me and never go astray to check something out.

it is really sweet and I wonder if she does this because she’s afraid she’ll lose me.

the issue is when she sees a SQUIRREL, she would run after it and would not come back even if I call her back. because this only happens at an off leash large park it has not been an issue (meaning no traffic/car she’d get hit by). she’s already a senior dog (almost 10) so I wonder if getting a trainer would still work at her age or should I just let her be? She does eventually come back but I just don’t have control of her until she’s done chasing.
