Cat deterrent that won’t impact my dog

Hello! I live in the UK in a terrace house with a back garden.

New neighbours moved in 2 doors down about a month ago and they have 2 cats that are constantly in our garden. The back gardens are separated by a big hedge with chicken wire along the bottom and then some more branch hedges. We’ve blocked off as many gaps as we can but they’re still getting in.

This is causing issues as we can no longer let our dog (staffy, 10) out for toilet breaks or run around without throughly checking the garden first and throwing the cats back over the hedge if they’re in our garden. He will chase smaller animals and obviously I don’t want him to harm a cat but also I want us and him to be able to use our garden as and when we want to!

Is there any kind of deterrent we could set up to stop the cats coming in? I’ve seen alarms but I don’t want these to impact wildlife or my own dog. Any suggestions would be gratefully received!
