What do you talk about when people at hi to your puppy?

This might be a weird question, but what do you talk about when strangers are saying hi to your dog?

I’ve never owned a puppy until now, but a lot of times people will be happy to greet my girl, then the conversation will start to get very personal and shift towards me. Asking where I’m from, what I do for work, etc.
