My dog have some medical issues with pee holding, and after doing pee pad training, my dog sometimes will pee one to two feet besides the pee pad.
After some asking and research, I have found some possible reasons and solutions.

Pee pads. I recently switched to another brand of pee pads, and I have observed more "pee beside, not inside" behavior, which could be a possible reason. I will switch to another brand as the the old brand is gone on amazon (But accidents also happened before I switched brands ). For my current brand, I am using the 60 pack from amazon basics, and I have noticed the quality was poor compared to the previous brand. It was thin, the edges are not cut open(I have to rip it open myself), but the touch of the pad felt similar.

Kitchen counter, as my dog is always peeing besides the kitchen counter, someone said that my dog could be distracted due to the connection between kitchen counter and food. I cannot change the pee pad location, as that is the only reasonable location. I will try to not feed my dog any food in the kitchen. Which I hope will weaken the connection.

I was suggested that making attractant out of my dog's own urine would help my dog find the location, thus after another puddle of her pee on the floor, I have collected some with toilet paper, and stored it inside an envelope made out of kitchen paper. I am drying it besides my stove right now and will stuff it under the pee pad later.
Please give me some advice on buying pee pads, as I have complete zero knowledge on pee pads. For size, 28 * 34 is the only option as that is the size of the dog pee pad tray I have got(also that is the largest try that could fit inside the place for my dog's "personal toilet". I would like it to have strong attractants as it will help my dog get used to the new pee pads better, also hoping it could at some degree, diminish the distraction from the kitchen counter.
Any general advice would also help.
