Puppy started suddenly eating kibble without chewing

16 weeks old cocker puppy was quick eater since we got him so we’ve been feeding him with slow bowl, puzzle, snuff mat, scatter etc and he would eat normal chewing his food and sniffing for it.

Last night, something changed in him – he started inhaling the kibble without even biting it and sometimes the excessive sniffing makes him eat air with kibble. This happened with snuff mat, slow bowl (we got difficult slow bowl for him and would always work) and his puzzle. He ate his dinner last night like he never saw food before, finished the mat and puzzles so quick and didn’t even chew one piece. Later that night, 2-3 hours after food, he threw everything up and it was full pieces of kibble and then threw up two more times but not straight away and not much. He was acting completely fine and eventually went to sleep for the rest of the night.

Today he is acting absolutely fine, drinks normal, eats normal, poop normal, but he eats like crazy. Nothing works. I have tried slow hand feeding today and could see closely how he just swallows/inhales that kibble whole. Putting a bit of water doesn’t help either. Tried frozen towel with kibbles inside and so he waited for it to defrost and demolished again. He started sniffing soooo much that he could probably sniff that kibble through his nose if it was small enough..

We were at the vet today to trim his nails and nurse also checked him and said he’s absolutely healthy, perfect weight, looks good etc and said that it was most likely the way he ate food that made him sick. She said to try scatter or hand feed today and so I did and it absolutely didn’t help.

Has anyone had this problem before and can advise what to do so our pup starts chewing food again instead of inhaling?
