Context:
– Female Puppy
– 7 months old
– adopted
– 11th day
– currently demand barking, which I’m ignoring to avoid reinforcing that barking gets her food/attention
Granted that she’s new to the house and the environment, she has done very well to adapt to the changes.
I leave her home for 8-9 hrs at any one time, therefore, I fully expect to come home to some pee and even poo. However, she’s actually been able to hold her bladder, avoiding going to the loo in her safe zone. I also bring her out for walk before I leave home and soon after I return home.
During the first few days at home, when there wasn’t a schedule, she would wait by the door to signal that she wanted to go out. There are three exits to the house, and she knows each of them.
However, in the past two days, she’s chosen to pee at certain corners of the house, one spot is literally next to the door leading outside. She’s stopped waiting by the door.
I wonder if I’ve missed her signal or she’s changed her behavior.
Potty training is tough with this pup. She doesn’t have one fixed spot, she seems to cycle through spots, favoring a spot for two days max.
I’ve laid down some pee pads with her old urine on it, but she’s never used those pee pads to relieve herself.
Need help with this behavior if anyone has any suggestions.
