Any advice for leash training?

Hello yall,

Ive been trying to leash train my puppy ~12 weeks old. I've been having trouble getting my puppy used to the leash. Each time I put it on him, he does not like it and fights me for control. I imagine that, in fact, he does not like it and doesnt like the fact that he can't be in control with it. So my question would be what would be best to do here? Have patience? Any techniques?

Ive been rewarding him with behavior I like and he listens to those commands. He is already potty trained, and kennel trained. So I am not sure why I am having so mnay issues with leash training.
