Dog Vs Bath

Hi everyone!

I have a lovely Irish wolfhound named Atlas who absolutely HATES having a bath like crazy hates it. He will jump, twist, fly backwards to get his collar off and then he flees anytime we turn the hose on in preparation to give him a bath – I’ve tried making it a positive experience lots of high value food and praise but he just won’t tolerate it, we have tried using those hydro baths as well but that was also a huge fight. We recently booked him in with a groomer thinking they might be able to to work with him more confidently the I can but Atlas made it very clear that he was not interested in participating to the point he showed teeth which is very out of character for him and I assume he reacted this way because the option to flee was taken from him.

We have had him since he was 3 months old and to my knowledge he’s never had a traumatic experience relating to water or baths.
