First visit/walk to the vet

Our puppy is 12 weeks and 2 days old and fully vaccinated. We only have him for 5 days (it feels much longer tbf) so still teaching him a lot of things.

We have his first vet visit tomorrow, but he is not confident to walk away from the house yet. We try with him with a lot of treats and let him sniff around (he’s good with harness and getting used to lead as we train in the garden). Today he had first interaction with a neighbour and he was brilliant, said hello all happy with his tail wagging and when I called him back he came to me. We managed to go so far as 4 doors down as then he gets bit scared after some time and wants to go back home (cars, wind, noises he doesn’t know).

How do we take him to the vet then? It’s just 6-7 minutes walk from us and unfortunately we don’t drive nor have anyone who could go with us by car.

We don’t want to make him walk and scare him as we want him to have positive experience with the vet.

He also seems to get cold in this weather and hates the rain and that’s also another reason he doesn’t want to be outside a lot – do we just carry him maybe wrapped in his blanket or what do we do? I’m worried that then he will get used to be carried and will not want to walk? Or will this one time be fine?
